Emmy is doing great. She was 5 lbs 2 oz at her weight check this week! Woohoo! She's outgrowing some of her preemie onesies, which is amazing. She really is growing before our eyes. I swear the one she wore last night fit her when I put it on her at first, and then didn't when I was snapping it back up after a diaper change this morning.
She went to the retina specialist on Tuesday and everything was fine. She did NOT like having her eyes pried open to be dilated, then to have lights shined in them, but it was brief and she did fine. Dr. Singh said he saw no sign of problems with the blood vessels to indicate Retinopathy of Prematurity. He said usually any problems will develop in the first 10 months. We will go back in 6 weeks and then again in 2-3 months for a re-check.
Speaking of the hospital, I just learned they have really nice 360 virtual tours online, so if you're interested you can tour the room(s) Emmy stayed in for her time in the NICU (as they refer to it, the Special Care Nursery) here. Her isolette was first on the right side of the first view, the middle bed there near the clock and the rocking chair. Then if you move around the room to the back, you'll see a door and a little room with windows to the left, that was her "private suite." I even think that's Dr. Brawley you see in the picture, too. Ahh, memories.
Today I took Emmy with me for our first "outing" to a farewell lunch for my friend Amy who is moving in a couple of weeks. The inevitable highs and lows of Army life mean meeting great people and then having to say good-bye to them all too soon. They are heading back up to Ft. Detrick and we're going to miss them! It was a small group of us so I felt comfortable taking Emmy out for a little while and she did great and she slept most of the time.
Tomorrow Charles' Mom and Dad are coming to see her for the first time since she was born, so I'm sure they enjoy getting to hold her finally!
I'll add photos later as the camera is somewhere in the house...
