I know it's a couple of days late, but Happy Father's Day to the best new Dad I know! Charles has been such a an amazingly supportive partner throughout my entire pregnancy and Emmy's first few weeks of life. From staying on me about drinking enough water when I was miserably sick in Nicaragua, bringing me saltines and ginger ale when we ran out, worrying with me when we had a scare in Dec. and feared I was miscarrying again, handling the news that the baby might have a neural tube defect, and then the roller coaster that ensued when we were relieved to find out that we were in the clear for neural tube defects, but instead I had abnormal dopplers and bad blood flow in the uterus that put me on bed rest, then in the hospital, and of course finally Emmy's early arrival as our tiny miracle. I know that all the extra work he's had to take on around the house, not to mention weeks of driving back and forth to the hospital and sleeping on an uncomfortable sofa "bed" have taken their toll, but he didn't complain. And the look on his face when he first held her, I knew that none of it mattered. He hasn't flinched at the poopy diapers or the late nights. He continues to take good care of both Emmy and me. It's been great having him home the last three weeks and I dread his return to work on Friday. I may never get to shower again! Seriously, Happy Father's Day, dear, and thank you for being the best father and husband I could ask for.

We spent the weekend getting ready for and enjoying Charles' parents visit. His Mom had to have a quick hospital stay earlier in the week, but she was okayed to travel, so we were glad for them to arrive Saturday evening and get right to work holding Emmy! It was nice being together for Father's Day and I know they hated to head home Sunday afternoon.

Sunday night Mary Ann and Joel cooked burgers for us. What a Father's Day for food loving Charles with so many of his favorites...sausage and grits, for breakfast, ham and veggies for lunch, and burgers and beer for dinner. What more could he ask for? Haha. Mary Ann has a fancy new camera so she took a bunch of pictures while playing with her settings, so I will upload those Picasa album. Don't worry, most of them are of Emmy, not Charles' giant burger. I just thought it would be fun to end the post with this photo of Emmy's Daddy.
Happy Father's Day, Charles!!!
