Emmy's moved up to the "big girl bathtub" and her new car seat!
She took her first bath in the tub on the 12th, so she's been getting a bath there for going on two weeks. She looks so tiny in there, but she likes it! She plays with her toys, reads her
Barnyard Bath Book, splashes, and of course, as evidenced by the picture, chews and sucks on the washcloth. Emmy has always liked bathtime, so it's been a part of our evening routine every night since she was just a few weeks old. She can be in the worst mood and you put her in the bath and suddenly all is right with the world, even if only for those few minutes she's in the tub.
Su-Su and Big Daddy gave her a new car seat for Christmas. We'd held off putting her in it since she could stay in the infant car seat carrier for a while longer. The carrier is nice because of course you can set her down to unlock the house or gather up jackets, etc. as you leave the house, and if she falls asleep in the car, we can easily carry her in still asleep. However, she had been growing increasingly frustrated when we put it her in it, so when we traveled to see Aunt Mer and "Uncle" Chase in Durham last weekend we decided we'd install the new big girl car seat and see how it went. The verdict is, she is much happier! It allows her sit up a bit more, so she can see out the back window, plus she can see herself in the mirror that is mounted on the back of the seat so we can keep an eye on her while we're in the front. She smiles at herself, likes to play with her toys, and after the first ten minutes of the trip, she was asleep. (The photo is of her the first time she fell asleep.) She's never been a great napper in the car, usually sleeping max 30 minutes, even during nap time when she'd usually sleep 1-2 hours. So, you can imagine our delight when on the way home from Durham she slept two solid hours. I'd say that's success!

I love Britax car seats! I have two and will never buy anything else. I hope you like it! She is getting so big!!!
ReplyDeleteYeah Emmy! I loved being able to have Jasper out of that carrier! It was much too heavy to carry with him in it! I was afraid he'd get to heavy for it, before he could sit up on his own. Thankfully the timing was perfect so when he got in his big boy carseat, he was just sitting up so it wasn't a problem at stores with carts!
ReplyDeleteYeah, we love the Britax. We did a lot of research and I was all prepared to get one less expensive, but after talking to the guy at BuyBuy Baby, we were convinced it was the best choice. And she's definitely a lot happier. You're right, Jane, she's a lot lighter not in the carrier! It was definitely the right time for the move, and she likes sitting up in the grocery cart, as long as she gets to chew on my list. We've resorted to dummy lists and hiding the actual one from her! She had a meltdown today in Hallmark because I wouldn't let her chew on the cards. Didn't plan for that one!
