Last night Charles changed her diaper for the first time, and lucky him, it was a poopy diaper! He did great. I've gotten to breastfeed her twice, once yesterday and once today. It's gone about as well as I could have expected. Tomorrow we'll have the lactation consultant come in to give me some advice, too. We'll still have to give her bottles when she comes home because she'll need a vitamin supplement at least once a day and most likely she won't quite have the energy to nurse at every feeding for a little while longer.
He's a photo of Emmy from last night. You'll see she is in a "new" isolette that's actually much older and doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the "Cadillac bed" she was in had. Because she is doing so well, they moved her because there has been an influx of new smaller and sicker babies.
SUCH wonderful news!!! I love checking this website (every single day, by the way) to get my Emmy updates! I am thrilled that she is GROWING and doing SO well!!! Yahoo!
ReplyDeleteJust remember....Tummy to Tummy! (while nursing) That was the most important tip I got! When I first started everything was fine then about 4 or 5days later I was swore and wanted to cry every time James would latch on. I wasn't doing tummy to tummy and man did I find out the hard way! I'm so happy to hear that she is doing wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI know, Jennie, I try to post as regularly as I can just for you. :) I hope y'all are having fun in PA.
ReplyDeleteThanks Danielle! I've been trying to keep that in mind. I bought a fabulous book while I was pregnant that simple descriptions and lots of pictures. It has been very helpful, as have the lactation consultants.
